Air Filtration

Effective Solutions

When Something's in the Air, it's Not Always Something Good.

A home is many things.

Among them are favorite odors. Your favorite meal on the stove as you walk through the front door. Fresh cut flowers on the dining room table. A romantic evening enhanced by scented candles. No doubt about it: the air inside your home can make it infinitely more inviting.

That’s the good news.

Here’s the other side of the story.

  • According to the EPA, indoor air is 2 to 10 times more polluted than outdoor air.
  • Polluted indoor air has become one of, if not the leading health problem in our country.
  • The American College of Allergies reports that, 50% of all illnesses are aggravated or caused by polluted indoor air.
  • According to Scientific America, a baby inhales the equivalent of 4 cigarettes a day simply from crawling on the floor.
  • Allergies, asthma, and other respiratory ailments can be caused or certainly aggravated by indoor pollutants.
  • Children and the elderly are especially susceptible to allergy causing airborne contaminants.

It’s Time to Focus on Some Very Effective Solutions.

There are countless ways to improve the quality of your indoor air. Here are a few that we offer at Comfort Air.

Ultraviolet (UV) Lamps

To say that we are inclined to keep our windows closed for long periods at a time here in Palm Springs is nothing short of a major understatement.

In the process, however, all kinds of pollutants get trapped indoors, others are brought in from outdoors (especially on your shoes) and, the better sealed your home, the more likely these pollutants are to get trapped, with nowhere else to go.

But the problem doesn’t end there as your central air or heating systems then circulate the air around your home, pollutants and all.

One of the best ways to clean up the air is with ultraviolet (UV) lamps installed inside your home comfort system. This is not a new technology. Since the early 1900’s UV light has been used to kill germs in the air, water, on counters, inside medical buildings, and more.

UV lamps sanitize the air as it passes through. At Comfort Air, we can determine the number and location of each one to help keep your air as clean as can be. Plus, they help prevent mildew, mold, and bacteria from reproducing and multiplying, which makes every day use not just a luxury, but a necessity for high quality indoor air.

Air Filtration System

Whole-house air filtration systems also are installed inside your home comfort system:  in this case, inside your duct work.  As air passes through the filter, bacteria, dust, dust mites, and all the rest are trapped by the system’s electrostatic filter.  The higher end models trap more than 99% of all pollutants that pass through the system’s filter, and it doesn’t get any more effective than that.

Air filtration systems – also called air cleaners – are out of sight, quiet, and need less maintenance than your normal HVAC filters.  In fact, they can go 6-12 months without replacement.

Over time, all the air in your home will pass through your ducts and the air cleaner; and each time that happens, the filtering process is effectively getting rid of those unwanted “guests.”

If you’re sneezing more than you like, can seem to get rid of a cold, developing allergy like symptoms, and so on, chances are there are issues with the quality of your indoor air.  To help make things better – or to act now before trouble has a chance to begin – contact the indoor air quality specialists at Comfort Air.  We have the right solution for your special needs, home, and budget.
